Collection: For Fiat 500 TwinAir
Fiat's TwinAir engine is a Straight-twin engine designed by Fiat Powertrain Technologies as part of its Small Gasoline Engine (SGE) family — employing Fiat’s MultiAir hydraulically actuated variable valve timing and lift technology.
Offered in a variety of FCA vehicles in turbocharged and naturally aspirated variants, the engine is noted for its reduced size, weight, fuel consumption, and CO2 emissions.
In the 2011 International Engine of the Year awards, the 875cc (53.4 cu in) TwinAir won Best Engine Under 1 Liter, Best New Engine, Best Green Engine and International Engine of the Year.
The two-cylinder 0.9 Turbo TwinAir 105 HP engine for the 2014 Alfa Romeo MiTo sport mini. The gasoline engine delivers 105 hp (72 kW) at 5500 rpm and maximum torque of 145 N·m (107 lb-ft) at 2000 rpm/min, with combined cycle fuel consumption of 4.2 l/100 km (56 mpg ), equivalent to 99 g CO2/km. (The 0.9 Turbo TwinAir is also offered in the Fiat 500 L.)
This is the lowest consumption of any of the gasoline or diesel MiTo engines, while power delivery and torque are the second-highest of the MiTo gasoline range. The top speed for the MiTo with the 0.9-liter engine is 184 km/h (114 mph) and it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 11.4 seconds. Specific power is almost 120 hp/liter, a value on a par with sportier engines.
